Small Gods Storyteller Series (vol. 6)

The Small Gods Storyteller Series is a monthly event featuring local and visiting writers.

Join us for an evening of literary readings, featuring visiting authors Délani Valin and Michael Melgaard, as well as local author Monika Davies!

Délani Valin (she/her) is Métis with Nehiyaw, Saulteaux, French-Canadian and Czech ancestry. She studies for her master’s in professional communications at Royal Roads University, and has a BA in Creative Writing from VIU. Her work has appeared in PRISM International, Adbusters, Room, and in the anthologies Those Who Make Us and Bawaajigan. She is on the editorial board of Room and The Malahat Review, and lives on traditional and unceded Snuneymuxw territory (Nanaimo, BC).

Michael Melgaard (he/him) is the author of the short story collection, Pallbearing, and the forthcoming novel Not That Kind of Place (2023). His stories have appeared in Best Canadian Stories anthology, Joyland, and elsewhere. Originally from Vancouver island, he now lives in Toronto.

Monika Davies (she/her) is a freelance author of 50+ books for young readers and a local facilitator of writing workshops. Her books cover a diverse and lively range of topics, from the hidden world of toilets to global citizenship. When she’s not writing, you can find her reading books too quickly, walking by the ocean, or eating yam fries with a side of coffee.

A limited number and selection of books by the authors may be for sale after the event. We recommend you bring cash if you intend to purchase books but some authors may also use Interac e-transfer. Please feel free to bring any books you may own by any of the authors should you like to have them sign it after the readings!

Priority Reserved Seating is available for sale through EventBrite. These reserved seating tickets will provide the closest proximity to the readers. General Admission Tickets be available at the door on the night of the event but seating is not guaranteed.

IMPORTANT NOTE: This event has communal seating, so singles and smaller groups may be seated together. For more information, email Sierra at sierra@smallgods.ca before you purchase tickets.
